Sisterhood and Us (M's version)
While Geetanjali is entitled to her opinions, I'm entitled to thinking they're stupid. I almost completely disagree with her on how we relate to the Sisterhood girls.
Arushi: I feel that Arushi is like Lena. She prefers to watch rather than participate. Lately, however, Arushi's getting crazier about her ways and starting to take more and more risks. Kind of like Briget I suppose. The only thing she has in common with Carmen is that she loves everyone unconditionally. Tibby and Arushi have exactly nothing in common.
Geetanjali: Bridget and Geetanjali share a mutual love of athletics and football. Of course, Geetanjali is also kind of like Carmen, always being happy with what there is. And when she's not happy, you'd better watch out.
And then, there's me. Like Lena, I have mixed emotions about most things. If you asked me to pick A or B, I'd always choose C. It's just the way I am. I have difficulty following my emotions. Rather, I justify and rationalize incessantly and over-think everything. Then again, I have an ability to love and trust freely, like Bridget. I'm confident, and flaunt it. I'm not afraid to be who I am, sometimes to the point of recklessness. Yes, I do impulsive things sometimes, but I do regret them afterwards. But Tibby is the one I'm most like. The rebel. Slightly sour, very cynical, very self-judgmental and extremely moody. And of course, we have a mutual love of the camera, the dream to go to NYU and a plan for a future making movies. And like Carmen, I'm protective slightly towards the side of selfishness, confused but mostly happy to love my friends and family.
And Naina, well, she's not really human. She's a mutant, and so she doesn't relate to any of these characters. I still totally love her though. I mean, when I'm not cowering in fear in front of her.

Comics and Books
'Hollywood has a knack of making bad films out of good comics' she says.
I disagree with that as well as agree. The Spiderman,Batman and Xmen movies seem to have done a fairly decent and applicable job at convincing its audience that they're not another ludicrously loopy movie with brightly colored supernatural human beings running around the place yelling'I shall save the world with my Odd-Sonic Blaster Thing'.
Whereas when one watches movies like Hulk its an entirely different point. The only way one can comprehend the movie is if you can understand the Bam-Bam language in which the Incredible Hulk speaks in.Sure he's big and hairy like in the comic, but at that rate you might as well put the Mask with King Kong.
In the case of novels ,like the Harry Potter,Lord of the Rings and Narnia series you have breathtaking work ,along with breathtaking actors like Daniel,Ben and Elijah.
The newly released Chronicles of Narnia:Prince Caspian is a much more appreciable movie compared to its predecessor. This time you would expect the movie to be shown on HBO instead of Disney Kids. The truculent battle scenes along with the exceptional Narnians and their king,Aslan, have attracted a much wider range of viewers.
The movie no longer shows the Pevensies as children who go dumb at the sight of talking beavers and moving trees, but teenagers who have begun to accept the facts of life. Also ,this movie has allot more humor in it,provided by Edmund,Susan and Mr.Rat.Little Lucy no longer goes ballistic about certain creatures like Mr.Tuminous and doesn't start crying at the drop of a hat.In fact Little Lucy isn't quite Little anymore, neither is Edmund.
During the last battle scene you see a variety of new Narnias like the cute yet lethal rats and kid centuars. The trees of narnia have also changed quite a bit. They are no longer the polite,sweet-scented selves but towering, rebellious, botanical beings.Their roots travel through the grounds and reach at the other end of the battle field only to demolish the colossal ammunitions of the Telmaranians and knock couple Telmaranian soldiers down.
Over all this movie is allot more impresive than the previous one.Watch it folks,it wont disappoint you.
Now that was the positive side of this post.Unlike Narnia, there are some movies that do not do justice to its book. They not only kill the book but rip it to bits and leave it to burn in disgrace that even the ashes aren't left. One such movie is about a boy called Eragon.
After watching the movie I have come to three conclusions. They are:-
1.The Director,Producer(s) and Scriptwriter(s) ought to apoligize to Christopher Paolini for the sorrowful bit of work that they made out of his marvelous book.
2.Edward Speleers is a hopeless actor.
3.if you want to live then I advice you to not go and watch the other installments.
Thats all from me for now,
N*

The Death Of Kurt Cobain: The end of a Legend

Much has been written about the events of April 8th, 1994 - the day Kurt Cobain's body was discovered in Seattle- and, for the thousands of Nirvana fans left behind, that day will remain in their memory for many years to come. Cynics have claimed that Cobain tried to make himself a "rock and roll martyr" by taking his own life - an attempt to secure the reputation as the Jim Morrison of the nineties - but such speculation tends to overlook the terrible tragedy of the death of one of the most influential artists of this decade. Such statements are stupid and insensitive. And I, at least for one, would beg to differ.
Why does everyone, without knowing the facts immediately label the death as suicide?
Kurt Cobain was an amazing artist and deserves that all of the truth be brought out once and for all. A lot of people saw Kurt Cobain and may have perceived him as somewhat of a Pied Piper of youth leading them towards drug use, heroin in particular. If Courtney Love is completely innocent, she should be spearheading the re-opening of the case, for their daughter if nothing else. Kurt Cobain was extremely important to millions of people. An investigation needs to be done, for the sake of Frances Bean Cobain, for Courtney Love, for the families of the 68 people who committed suicide after Kurt was found dead, and for the literally millions of fans of this amazing artist.
Kurt Cobain left a drug rehab center in Marina Del Rey California on April 1, 1994 and was later reported missing. As you probably know, he was found dead just seven days later.
Here is just some of...
WHAT YOU WERE NEVER TOLD:
COURTNEY LOVE WAS FACING A DIVORCE

Courtney knew Kurt wanted out of the marriage. Just weeks prior to his death, she asked one of her attorneys to get the "meanest, most vicious divorce lawyer" she could find.
SOMEONE WAS USING KURT'S CREDIT CARD

Someone was attempting to use the missing credit card after Cobain died, but the attempts stopped when his body was discovered.
COBAIN WAS IN FEAR OF HIS LIFE

The shotgun was fully loaded with three shells. It was purchased and loaded for protection, not suicide.
The police claim there were no legible fingerprints on this shotgun!
The truth is, the shotgun wasn't even checked for fingerprints until May 6th, nearly one month after Cobain's body was found.
THERE WAS NO "SUICIDE" NOTE!!

But this note was not addressed to Kurt's wife and daughter and it says nothing about "killing himself!" This note was clearly written to Cobain's fans telling them he was quitting the music business. There was only a short footnote to Courtney and Frances and the handwriting contained in those lines has been questioned by several handwriting experts.
COURTNEY HAD ANOTHER NOTE SHE KEPT IN SECRET!

The second note, the one that Courtney kept in secret, clearly defines the first note which was found at the scene of Cobain's death. The "second note" from Kurt plainly states he was leaving Courtney and he was leaving Seattle. He was NOT leaving the planet!
COBAIN WAS INJECTED WITH 3 TIMES A LETHAL DOSE OF HEROIN!!

THE OBVIOUS QUESTIONS:
1. If Cobain injected himself with a deliberate heroin overdose, why would he ALSO shoot himself in the head with a shotgun, leaving his baby daughter - the love of his life - with horrific visual images to remember him by? Why not just "go to sleep" on the overdose and never wake up?2. IF Cobain injected three times a lethal dose of heroin, COULD he then pick up a shotgun and shoot himself? Wouldn't he have been immediately incapacitated?
Based on the heroin, (morphine), blood levels found in Cobain's body, preliminary research indicates Kurt Cobain would have been immediately incapacitated. He could not have picked up that shotgun. He could not have pulled that trigger!
IN ADDITION...
Cobain was not barricaded inside the room as reported by misinformed media sources. The stool which was supposedly wedged" against the door was actually just sitting in front of the two unlocked doors that only led out to a balcony.
Cobain did not leave his Driver’s License out for identification as reported by misinformed media sources.
The first police officer on the scene found Cobain's closed wallet, opened it to remove Kurt's driver's license, and displayed it in order to take a photograph.
THE FACT IS...
The police and the Medical Examiner have no forensic evidence that proves Cobain's death was a suicide. On the other hand, there's a substantial amount of evidence for murder. The official verdict of "suicide" was simply a rush to judgement which eventually painted the authorities into a corner as reports of so-called "copy-cat" suicides began making the news.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Whatever may be the case, the fact is remains that on that fateful day, we lost the deemed saviour of acid rock. And, that, more than anything, is just plain sad.
I myself was a Nirvana fan and continue to be. As do millions of people across the world who will continue to listen and appreciate his music even when he's not there anymore.
Kurt, R.I.P :( :(
We all love you.

Death, Loss and Grief
Death of course, is the reason for loss. Loss is something almost indescribably, but I'll try my best. Losing someone is a strange experience. When it happens, you're numb. you know they're dead, but it doesn't quite sink in. Then, slowly, but surely, realization dawns. The realization that they're really gone. That they're not coming back. it's awful. It's like losing a part of you. That part is now empty, possibly never to be filled again.
But truly, when one really realizes that they're really not coming back, is when grief sets in. And grief is even worse than loss. It comes in all forms. Denial, anger, sadness, guilt, frustration. And, sadly, it extends for an indefinite period of time. In that time, you realize that they're gone, mourn them , miss them, blame them, blame others, blame yourself and possibly come to terms with the fact that they're not coming back. But grief too, comes to an end. Yes, we mourn and reminisce, but in the end, it's over. For some. For some of us, it's never really over. Grieving continues for what seems like ever. And acceptance doesn't even make an appearance.

Sisterhood and us
And the 'us' part of the title. Well, while reading the book I noticed a lot of things which we have in common with the Sisterhood.
Arushi and Lena: Like Lena, Arushi is mostly pretty calm and underestimating.
Arushi and Carmen: Carmen and Arushi share a bad temper (that is, the few times they get angry) and of course, she loves us all like Carmen loves her friends.
Malavika and Lena: Like Lena is passionate about art, Malavika is passionate about her music.
Malvika and Carmen : Carmen is the baby who loves her friends but loves being pampered the most! Much like Malavika!
Malvika and Bridget : These two share nothing other than the fact that they are extremely reckless and instinctual. They both do something first and think about it later.
Naina and Tibby : Naina is really hard to place in the sisterhood. I would say she was most like Tibby. On top, she hates hugs but inside would love one. And though she is like only one of them, Tibby is the most interesting and complicated sisterhood character.
Geetanjali (me) and Bridget : Ah, me. There are only two things that I don't have in common with Bridget - her bright hair and the fact that I am not in love with a guy named Eric. Otherwise I'm pretty much same wacky chick who loves soccer (in my case only playing i am not patient enough to sit still long enough to watch a full game)!

Things that make me Oh-So-Happy
2) An Acoustic Guitar - When something goes wrong, and there's no one to talk to, an acoustic guitar takes all the pain away. Oh, and paired with a froot loop sundae - Yeah, path to enlightenment.
3) Old School British Comedy - Monty Python, Fawlty Towers and The Goodies!
4) Red Nail Paint - Think it's too 'Punjabi', well guess what! I'm Punjabi, sue me!
5) Taking Videos - I love documenting our frantic antics.
6)Writing - It always helps, and it's so satisfying.
7)Shoes - I know, I know, with the whole poet/ author/ hippie chick thing, I should be going barefoot, but, but, but - Louboutins!
8)Rain - It's magical. And captivating. And it washes the past away.
9) Tanmayesh - It's nice to have someone who really gets you. And it's nice to know your that person to someone too!
10) My Chappal Bitches - What would I do without you guys, Aru, Naina, Geetu!?

Rain
Rain is something magical; Something unreal; Out of the world. It makes you forget who you are, what you're doing, all your cares and worries. The rain doesn't discriminate. It comes to all - rich or poor, sick or healthy, young or old. It brings with it a sense of freshness. The wind flying through your hair, the green trees, the smell of the earth. They all mark a change. In a sense, the rain cleans us out. It washes away the worries, anxieties, faults and sins. It lets us start anew. It gives second and third, fourth, fifth and sixth chances.
Rain drenches us all in goodwill. Standing wherever you may be, letting the raindrops soak into your clothes, the wind blow through your hair and your toes curl in the earth is something completely unique. There's nothing like it.
The rain is something magical, unreal, and out of the world...

Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian (Movie Review: Arushi's version!)

Hey all,
Well, I respect that Naina is working on a review also...but hey! Who said we can't have two??
Ok so this is my version-
There is a colossal responsibility you have to accept when trying to adapt a OCD(read:Naina, Harry Potter...says it all) series of novels to the big screen. You bring along a heavy set of expectations from pre-existing fans to not only produce an excellent movie, but also one that remains true to the original novel. This is insanely difficult considering the average novel can be anywhere from 300-700 pages…adapting novels into movies is no small feat.
Some, like Lord of the Rings, go far beyond what anyone could have hoped for. Some disapoint, like The Da Vinci Code( gawd what was all that about anyway?? What did they do to Dan Brown's book??!!.). Then you have some that just truly do a good solid job like the Harry Potter films…. and The Chronicles of Narnia.
The first Chronicles of Narnia film was a good movie. At least I thought so (the parts of it that I did manage to watch, that is). I could never exactly figure out how they were going to capture that book on the screen in a practical and entertaining way. Yet they did it beautifully. No, it wasn’t on Lord of the Rings scale, but it was excellent nonetheless. Could that same feat be accomplished with Prince Caspian? Yes, I believe they did.( Not to mention got an incredible star cast, Read: Ben Barnes and Skander Keynes!!)
THE GOOD
The action / adventure quota went WAY up for Prince Caspian. One of the criticisms the first Chronicles of Narnia film had against it was that it felt a little lacking in the action / adventure department (the ending battle not withstanding). Seems that the producers of the film were paying close attention. In Prince Caspian, the battles are more numerous, much grander in scale, the effects much better( the mice hehehe.)! The was also an increased sense of maturity to the action. The four main character from the first film aren’t just cute kids caught up in a battle… they are indeed warrior. ( Not to mention HOT! Well, Except Susan...who just looks plain sick!)Oh ya!!The mice!! My favorite part of the movie( Ya, I'm just saying that...that was actually Caspian himself and Peter and Edmund!)!! Seeing all the creatures we saw in the first film again was also quite a nice touch.( I dont know about that....since i only have seen about half of the first one!)

THE BAD
In as much as there was more action and adventure in this film than the last… the price of that was a loss of some of the sense of awe and wonder… the sense of magic. With the first Narnia film, I found myself spellbound by the world they were in, feeling like a little kid sitting around a campfire as a skilled storyteller told the tale. There was still some sense of that in Prince Caspian for certain, but not nearly as much as in the first film.
The beginning of the film is a bit( to put it politely) slow and took a little while for it to find its pace. Once it did it was awesomeness… but it did take a good 20(cough) minutes to do so.
There is a terrible lack of Aslan (The Lion , who b.t.w i thought was like, dead...until Geetu told me otherwise!) in the film. Yes I understand the need to maintain the basic arch of the books… but I (and I think most people) was really looking forward to seeing Aslan, the great big Lion going around killing people( omg I'm turning into Naina) and not hugging little girls all through the movie. Seeing him ferociously kicking ass and taking names. Hell, even just seeing him roar sends chills up my spine. Sadly however, Aslan doesn’t appear until well into the third act of the film, and even once he’s there, he doesn’t actually do much at all ( cept hugging little girls and giving long winded descriptions about the philisophy of life. yada yada yada.) There are other things that make up for this… but it was still a disappointment for me.
The White Queen in the first film was a fantastic villain. How freakin cool was it seeing her ride into combat on that chariot pulled by two polar bears and then wielding the two swords like a freaking hot ass ninja?!?! Unfortunately, the villain in Prince Caspian isn’t nearly as interesting or fun antagonist( phew big word) as the White Queen.
OVERALL
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian ends up being a very fun ( what with Mali chucking popcorn around)and often exciting( ahem. Mali laughing so hysterically that i couldnt get most of the film) follow up to The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. The characters have a wonderful sense of continuation to them( caspian!!!!), the battles are bigger, the effects better which all ends up being awesome! The film could have had “classic” status if it weren’t for the lack of a compelling villain, a woeful lack of Aslan and a substantial loss of that sense of awe and wonder delivered by the first film. Still... not a bad one. Overall I give The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian a solid 7.5 out of 10
XOXO!!
A.( hehe Mali...ur M and Naina's N and Geetu's G...not that she's contributing much!)Friday, May 9, 2008

Men,Boys,Lads and their Unfortunate Importance

This particular post is written by me,Naina.
Most of the people we know and who are reading this would expect this post to be written by Malvika and not me.
...
or anybody for that matter.
I never thought boys were a matter of life and death.Until that faithful day arrived when I sat and saw 'Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone'.
I sat down on my beanbag and turned on the television as I had nothing to do,and had finished all of my Enid Blyton's (I was seven). While watching Power Puff Girls on POGO,a little ity bity ticker appeared that said 'Watch Harry Potter on POGO,this may'.
I had heard a lot about this Harry Potter thing and how the books were great, yada yada yada.Never actually got down to reading it.So i thought that I might as well sit and watch the movie and not bother reading the book.Until my mum came.
She said that I can't watch the movie until and unless I read the book. Now its not like a small, innocent, harmless seven year old has the guts to stand up to her own mother. So anyways moving on from my traumatic childhood,I read the first part of the harry potter saga, and loved it.
Its just as simple as that.
-and now living to the ripe age of 14,I am still obsessed with it.
but that has nothing to do with this-
-my obsession did not decrease,as in a few years time I fell...well not in love...but sort of stopped breathing ever since I saw the third Harry Potter installment,Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Containing within it ,what seemed like the only living male in the entire universe to me,was Daniel Radcliffe.
I was completely.........well........I don't know, it was that funny feeling most girls get when they see a cute blue eyed, messy haired male human being.
Out of all of my friends I am the only one with this 'feeling' for the Daniel thing.
Mali (Malvika) on the other hand has sort of had her share at guys.sadly their all(I'm being polite) different.
Probably the most effective one would be Pranav Kuc.......well.....lets just stick to Pranav.
-Mali could write more on him.
Arushi is in love with the Jonas Brothers,Chase Crawford and Robert Downey Jr.She does like Daniel ,but its just that she doesn't need to show it at all ,as I do all of that for practically every one.
But in the case of Robert Downey Jr.,she's not alone.I kinda like him too.Courtesy,Iron Man.
*god,I love that movie*
Geetanjali....I don't think she like anyone....but wait a moment....that cant be right.
...
Ah well, she can do her bit on the guys she like's.
But for now
Bye,
Naina :P
The OC v/s Gossip Girl
Check It-
Serena Van Der Woodson V/S Marissa Cooper

This It girl shares more than just an uncanny
resemblance to resident O.C. downer Marissa Cooper (Mischa Barton, left). Serena (Blake Lively, right) seems to have it all, but in addition to a party girl reputation, dark family secrets and a disregard for high society, Serena one-ups the sulky Coop with a history of BFF betrayal.
Summer Roberts and Taylor V/S Blair Waldorf

Where Summer and Blair are concerned,--
Blair is like Summer - the Queen Bee (Or Queen B, as it may, er, be), with the designer clothes and riches to her name. But what she doesn’t have is Summer’s loyal following: Blair’s boyfriend Nate has already cheated on her, and the return of ex-best friend Serena is putting her crown in jeopardy.
Ryan and Seth V/S Nate and Dan

I figured these four boys had a little similarity circle (or square, I suppose) thing going on, therefore they're all in comparison with each other. Ryan + Marissa, Nate + Serena; Seth + Summer, Nate + Blair and squeeze Dan + Serena in there somewhere: a complicated love hexagon to boot. All four of these boys were turned into instant heartthrobs after their shows became IT, and none of their characters buy into the lifestyles that they were born into/brought into.
Julie V/S Kirsten V/S Darla

Anna V/S Vanessa

Sandy V/S Rufus

Both are seen as uncool dads, but give some of the best advice on the show. Sandy's wife Kirsten used to date Marissa's dad Jimmy, and Dan's dad Rufus used to date Serena's mum Darla.
Luke V/S Chuck

The similarities here seem obvious, but when you really get down to it, they're not all that similar. At first, Luke is Newport's resident bad-boy (aside from Ryan) as with Chuck in the Upper East Side. But Luke redeems himself once his vulnerable side is shown, but as far as I know, Chuck doesn't get a chance at redemption...yet. All Chuck wants is approval, from anyone, this being the deep down motivation for all his wicked ways; but is it the same for Luke?
Awesome Foursome
So, if what I hear is correct, every girl has three types of friends.
Sadly, that's not so true for me.
I mean, yes, Arushi, Nayatara and Geetanjali will always be 'mah bitches' (ALWAYS!), but, sadly, I have WAY too many friends to count.
But, since this is just the four of us, I'm going to describe only us.
1. Arushi - The Silent Spectator. Loves watching other people. In pain, in joy, in happiness, in sadness, all of it. She just likes to watch. Never participate, only watch.
2. Naina - Cold and Heartless. Or not really so. Sure she puts on the whole 'I-couldn't-care-less' face, but she's a shweety underneath. I think. I've never actually seen that part of her, I'm just guessing.
3. Geetu - The Happy Person. What happens can happen. Geetu will always be content with it. And jumpy about it.
4. Ah, me - The Wacko One. Popular, but not by choice. Gives the rest a taste of the wild side. Sure, they call me crazy, but that's just cuz I do things they don't. So what? I still luh them. They still luh me.
Luh. Luh. Luh. So much Luh.

Iron Man- review
That said, if you’re going to watch this movie (and you are), don’t expect an Oscar performance, even though Downey’s portrayal of Stark is fantastic. Expect some damn nice CGI, a really likeable anti-hero turned hero, and some classic superhero moments. There are even some bits of solid humour peppered in (pun intended, you’ll see).
If you’re easy to please, such as myself, this movie is not going to disappoint. Technology is everywhere, and it’s not vomit-inducing futuristic crap like usual, it’s mostly fairly viable stuff that works like expected, but overall gives an impression of advanced living. It’s always nice to see a superhero like Batman who doesn’t become awesome by a freak accident, or alien parents, but works hard and earns it. Not to mention that Gwyneth Paltrow is as good as ever. Her name's Pepper btw, next they'll have Salt. heh.
Overall: go watch it, it doesn’t disappoint.
The Quadruplets
Naina came up with that genius name yesterday.
According to Seventeen Magazine, every girl had 3 kind of friends. As Naina rightly pointed out, we have all three!
For me it would be like this-
1. Naina - The competitor, cuz shes a lot like me.
2. Mali- The crazy loony who basically does every odd thing before us,
so we already know what its like . (This is all naina's
language...)
3.Geetu- The adviser who is basically the best listener.
Hah. This is so cool. I have all three types :D
