Hollywood has a terrible habit of making terrible movies out of comics, just look at Fantastic 4, Hulk and Daredevil. Knowing this, I had a low feeling in my stomach going into the movie theater. This movie looked so freaking awesome, if Hollywood ruined it I would be very upset to say the least. Thankfully, they did not. It’s not like Robert Downey Jr. could be in a bad movie anyways, right?
That said, if you’re going to watch this movie (and you are), don’t expect an Oscar performance, even though Downey’s portrayal of Stark is fantastic. Expect some damn nice CGI, a really likeable anti-hero turned hero, and some classic superhero moments. There are even some bits of solid humour peppered in (pun intended, you’ll see).
If you’re easy to please, such as myself, this movie is not going to disappoint. Technology is everywhere, and it’s not vomit-inducing futuristic crap like usual, it’s mostly fairly viable stuff that works like expected, but overall gives an impression of advanced living. It’s always nice to see a superhero like Batman who doesn’t become awesome by a freak accident, or alien parents, but works hard and earns it. Not to mention that Gwyneth Paltrow is as good as ever. Her name's Pepper btw, next they'll have Salt. heh.
Overall: go watch it, it doesn’t disappoint.
